
Using Linux as a baseline, I can't help thinking about the opportunities for another technological paradigm shift with Meg Whitman dumping WebOS into the Open Source community. The platform is more intuitive than Apple's and apps are easier to develop. The problem is marketing; if there is no money in it a sluggish economy dampens creativity.
Perhaps an educational program to teach kids it is cooler to build their own technology, rather than pay Apple a premium for it.
